Defender Chassis

We currently manufacture all the Defender range of chassis including the 2.5 litre normally aspirated petrol and diesel, the 200 and 300 tdi engines, V8 including the NAS 90 and Anniversary and the SV 200.
We are currently developing a chassis to fit the new Puma engine Land Rovers which will be available very soon.

Defender 90Defender 90

Defender 90 Land Rovers hold their value very well. Even now, 25 year old models are still fetching strong money on auction sites and forecourts. A Richards Chassis will enhance and protect your investment further.

We build all versions of the Defender 90 chassis, from the earliest 2.25l engines, through the Wolf, to the latest Puma engined cars.

Our chassis are made using 2.5mm side rails which are 25% heavier than the standard 2.00mm rails. Overall this gives a small increase in the vehicle weight but has a massive effect on the long term durability of the chassis.

We also use the correct rear cross member for the year of the vehicle, which means you will not have a 200Tdi model with a TD5 cross member for example. This is of course important as it is the only visible part of the chassis on the finished vehicle.

Gearbox cross members are available for the 200Tdi and 300Tdi models. These are galvanized and are a heavy duty design to be as damage resistant as possible.

Defender 110 / 130

Defender 110 /130 Land Rovers hold their value very well. Even now, 25 year old models are still fetching strong money on auction sites and forecourts. A Richards Chassis will enhance and protect your investment further.

We produce all varieties Defender 110 and 130 chassis and each is as close to the original design as possible, including using the correct rear cross member for the year of the vehicle. However, we utilise a 2.5mm rail thickness throughout rather than the original 2mm due to the inherent strength and stability benefits this brings all-round.

As an improvement over the original design, we have eradicated all inherent water traps on the suspension points by using a single 6mm piece of steel rather than two 3mm pieces laminated together as Land Rover used originally.

Our chassis can be fitted with mounts for all Defender engine variants from the 2.25l petrol to the new 2.3l Puma / Transit engine. This also includes the SV 200, NAS V8, and 50th Anniversary models.

We are able to offer a range of modifications enabling you to customise the chassis to suit your needs. We are also able to supply Station Wagon Floor Mount Cross Members and Turret Tops and are in the process of developing the bolt-on body mounts in a heavy duty galvanised version. We can up-grade your fuel tanks to fit the modern plastic TD5 tanks and a second side tank on some long wheel base models. Make sure you select these on our prices page when ordering your chassis
