Series 2

We can offer two types of the above chassis.

All of our chassis are made from 2.5 mm British Steel and come Galvanized as standard. Once galvanized our chassis are taken back into the workshop and rectified. All holes are re-drilled and re-tapped before standard suspension bushes are fitted before delivery.

Production Chassis

The first is what we call a Production Chassis which is a direct replacement for your current chassis but does not have the redundant brackets and utilises later type brackets and cross members which are easier and cheaper to manufacture which, to the casual observer will look like the original chassis. These chassis are ideal for the customer who wants to re-build rather than restore their car.

Replica Chassis

The second is the Replica Chassis which we manufacture as per the original with 4 sided cross members and replica seems to emulate the pressed originals. This also includes original type brackets and we have now developed a rear cross member which is an exact replica of the original Land Rover type. This chassis is aimed at the Series 2 Enthusiast who wants to restore his or her car as close to the original as possible. We will endeavour to copy any peculiarities which may occur on your car if you let us know what they are. These chassis are more expensive than the production chassis due to the extra work involved in manufacture, but to the enthusiast who wants to restore, it must be worth the cost.

Series II Chassis

The Production Chassis is a direct replacement for your current chassis. It doesn't have the secondary battery shelf brackets and utilises production type cross members and brackets, but to the casual observer will look the part and you will not have to source any extra parts to fit your chassis.

Series II Chassis

On the production chassis we use the later type Series III hand brake lever bracket. This is a more efficient design and allows easier access to the fittings.

This image shows the Series II type number 3 cross member gussets. If you intend using a series III full syncro gear box we can replace these gussets with the series III type  to allow for the wider Series III type gear box. Please note you will need to specify this as an option when pricing up your chassis on our price list page.

This image shows the fake seem on the underside of the number 5 cross member. although not required we ensure attention to detail as we emulate this seem to maintain the authentic look and character of original chassis in our replica.

This image shows the rear cross member which we manufacture exactly as per the original. A painstaking task but an essential part of our replica chassis as they are highly visible once your restoration is complete.

This image shows the original style hand brake bracket. This item is an exact copy of the original which although never seen on the finished vehicle, shows our commitment to an authentic replica of a classic design.

The image also shows such attention to detail as the type and style of weld used by the Land Rover fabricators on the original chassis. with all vertical seems having two thirds weld one third missed.

This enables the fitting of a steering damper which is the shock absorber which mounts between the steering arm and the chassis rail and damps the shock felt through the steering wheel when tackling the rough.
